ABSTRACT

Objective @#To establish a headspace-gas chromatography ( HS-GC ) method for the determination of acetone and butanone, the biomarkers of occupational exposure to isopropanol and butanone, in urine of occupational populations. @*Methods @#Urine samples at 5.0 mL were transferred to a headspace bottle, added with 2.0 g anhydrous sodium sulfate, sealed immediately, and placed in a headspace sampler-gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer. Following heating at 60 ℃ for 30 min, 0.5 mL urine samples were injected and separated with the DB-FFAP capillary chromatographic column, and determined with the flame ionization detector. In addition, the retention time and peak area were determined. @*Results @#The peak area appeared a linear relationship with mass concentrations of acetone at 0.16-80 mg/L and butanone at 0.03-16 mg/L (correlation coefficient, 0.999 9), with detection limits of 0.009 and 0.004 mg/L, quantitation limits of 0.03 and 0.02 mg/L, respectively. The mean recovery rates of spiked samples were 93.67%-99.37% and 91.18%-94.41% for low, medium and high concentrations of acetone and butanone, and the relative standard deviations of 1.53%-3.69% and 2.54%-6.58%, respectively. @*Conclusion @#A highly sensitive and repeatable HS-GC method is successfully established for simultaneous determination of acetone and butanone in urine samples by optimizing sample pretreatment and separation, which is feasible for qualitative and quantitative analyses of acetone and butanone in urine.

ABSTRACT

@#The jaw and femur are commonly used sites in basic research for modeling bone defects or inserting implants. An increasing number of studies have identified that the jaw and femur indeed show great differences in embryonic development and growth, histomorphology and bone metabolism. A literature review showed that, compared with the femur, the main osteogenic pathway of the jaw may have better osteogenic ability, and its stem cells have better proliferation and osteogenic differentiation ability. However, the jaw structure is less regular, the osteogenic differentiation ability of its osteoblasts is mineralization slightly weak, and the immune cells of the jaw are more sensitive to cytokines. These may be the reasons why the osseointegration of the jaw implant is different from that of the femur in animal experiments, but its specific mechanism has not been clarified.

ABSTRACT

Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are polymers obtained by esterification of hydroxy fatty acid monomers. Due to similar mechanical characteristics of traditional petroleum-based plastics, 100% biodegradability and biocompatibility, PHAs are considered to be one of the most potential green materials. However, the application and promotion of PHAs as a green and environmentally friendly material are difficult because of the high production costs. This article focuses on the current methods to reduce production cost of PHAs effectively, such as cell morphology regulation, metabolic pathway construction, economic carbon source utilization and open fermentation technology development. Despite most research results are still limited in laboratory, the research methods and directions provide theoretical guidance for the industrial production of economic PHAs.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the situation and influencing factors of bowel cleansing in patients before colonoscopy, and to provide reference for guiding patients′ bowel preparation.@*Methods@#The clinical data of 421 patients undergoing electronic colonoscopy in the endoscopy center of the second people′s hospital of Lu′an city in Anhui Province from April to September 2018, Prospective collection by systematic sampling, including general data of patients, clinical data of bowel preparation and score of Boston bowel preparation scale. Univariate analysis and logistic regression analysis were performed on the relevant factors of bowel preparation.@*Results@#Among the 421 patients, 52 cases were not eligible for intestinal cleaning, and the unqualified rate was 12.35%(52/421). Logistic regression analysis showed that: Total amount of drinking water prepared for intestinal tract before colonoscopy (OR=1.674, P=0.018),The total times of defecations after taking the drug (OR=1.270, P=0.014), the characteristics of last stool before colonoscopy (OR=2.211, P=0.042), the diet the day before colonoscopy (OR=0.553, P=0.006) , body mass index (OR=1.111, P=0.042), and intestinal diseases (P=0.022), were all intestinal clearance independent influencing factors of cleaning effect; While took laxative type (mannitol/PEG), drunk water speed (within 3 hours), first defecation time, the site of drinking bowel-clearing drugs, daily activity, none of the above factors affected the bowel preparation effect (P>0.05) .@*Conclusion@#Before colonoscopy, there were many factors affecting the cleaning effect of the intestine. The total water intake of intestinal preparation was less than 2 000 ml, the total number of defecation after taking medicine was less than 5 times, the last defecation contained residue, the day before the examination was strictly fasting, the body mass index was less than 18.5 kg/m2, and colitis, enterelcosis and occupying lesion are independent risk factors for intestinal cleaning. Attention should be paid to the comfort care and guidance of intestinal preparation, and prospective intervention can effectively improve the cleaning effect of intestinal tract.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the methods and effects of multimodal and phased protective training for medical staff against Ebola. Methods The 4 stages of the protective training include the theoretical teaching, track type simulative process train-ing,simulative ward training,on-site training. We combined the 4 protective training stages and made 4 protective skills assessments in sequence. Results The average scores and qualified rates of the medical staff in the second, third, fourth assessment increased significantly comparing with that in the first assessment. The qualified rate reached 100% in the fourth assessment and we realized zero infection during the mission. Conclusion Multimodal phased protective training reinforced the protective skills of medical staff.Zero infection of medical staff needed seamless supervision in work time eventually.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the curative effect of traditional Chinese medicine on the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee with Tongbi topical ointment combined with joint cavity effusion flushing. Methods 366 patients of osteoarthritis of knee joint with effusion were collected from May 2009 to March 2013 in Hubei University of Medicine Affiliated Taihe Hospital, and randomly recruited into a control group and a treatment group by random number table method, with 188 patients in each group. The control group was treated with the joint cavity drainage and oral taking glucosamine hydrochloride capsules, the treatment group was treated with external application of Tongbi ointment based on the control group.Leukocyte osteoarthritis-1 beta (IL-1β) and hyaluronic acid (HA) were measured before and after the treatment.VAS and WOMAC osteoarthritis index were used to evaluate the effect. Results Compared with indexes before the treatment,IL-1β[(39.29±7.52) pg/ml,(28.33 ± 5.42) pg/ml] decreased significantly,HA content [(1.41 ± 0.23) μg/L,(3.34± 0.48) μg/L] increased significantly,VAS score [before treatment and 1-4weeks were (7.21±0.35),(5.47±0.34),(5.04±0.32),(4.03±0.24),(2.23±0.15)] decreased and the WOMAC index[(56.17±7.31),(46.32±6.34),(37.17± 5.31),(29.04±3.58),(15.21 ±2.37)] improved significantly in the treatment group after 4 weeks of treatment. There was a significant difference between the treatment and the control group showed (P<0.05).Combined with the total effective rate of 98.9% (181/183) in treatment group, the control group of 87.4% (160/183) showed a significant difference (P<0.01).Conclusion External application of Tongbi ointment combined with joint cavity flushing was effective in the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee with effusion.
